City Council meeting of February 3, 2003 Page 3 APPROVE REDUCTION IN LETTER OF CREDIT FOR PINEVIEW MEADOWS PD ADDITION Paul Kelliher, developer for Pineview Meadows 2°d Addition, submitted a request for reduction in the letter of credit for public improvements in the development. City Engineer Dave Mitchell and Finance Director Ron Odan reviewed the request and have found it to be consistent with work completed to date. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved reduction in the letter of credit to $139,720. AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF SNOWPLOW FOR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT At its December 5, 2002 meeting, Council authorized staff to prepare specifications for the purchase of a new plow truck in 2003. Public Works Director Chris Petree completed all necessary work and reviewed it with Council member Mike Granger for final draft. Through the State of Minnesota contract and the Cooperative Purchasing Venture, cities like Hugo are able to purchase trucks through a prebid process whereby dealerships have already publicly bid on the sale of the trucks. Funding for this purchase will be discussed and finalized by Council at a later date, after its CIP workshop. Adoption of the Consent Agenda authorized the purchase of a new Sterling L7500 plow truck with snow plow equipment in an amount not to exceed $110,800. APPROVE THREE -LOT SUBDIVISION (MICHAEL MASSIE) Michael Massie is requesting subdivision approval for three rural residential lots. The subject property is 40.8 acres in size and fronts on 125m Street North. On October 21, 2002, the City Council approved a four -lot subdivision for,the subject property. The applicant now desires to amend the subdivision to create three lots. Two of the lots would be 10 acres in size, and the third lot would be twenty acres. The applicant has a buyer who desires 20 acres. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the subdivision request. APPROVE VARIANCE REQUEST FOR OVERSIZED GARAGE (CAPRAI Mike Capra is requesting approval of a variance to construct a 1,132 square foot attached garage to a home under construction at 13715 Isleton Avenue North. The zoning ordinance limits the size of an attached garage to 1,000 feet. The parcel is 3.3 acres in size and legally described as Lot 1, Block 3, Duck Pass. The Board of Adjustments reviewed the variance request on January 23, 2003 and recommended approval by a unanimous vote. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the variance for Mike Capra. APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF MIKE LOEFFLER TO FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPT The City hired Mike Loeffler on August 5, 2002 as one of the City's new maintenance workers. Over the past six months, Mike has worked very hard to perform all of the duties of a Public Works Maintenance Worker in a conscientious, dedicated, and committed fashion demonstrating a high level of professionalism in the public works department. Mike is a very valued member of the Hugo Public Works Dept. Adoption of the Consent Agenda appointed Mike to a regular employee status and made the adjustment as prescribed in the City's employee salary matrix.
