City Council meeting of February 3, 2003 <br />Page 4 <br />APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF ROB WELDON TO FULL -TEM EMPLOYEE IN THE <br />PUBLIC WORKS DEPT <br />The City hired Rob Weldon on August 5, 2002 as one of the City's new maintenance workers. Over the <br />past six months, Rob has worked very hard to perform the duties of the duties of a Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker in a conscientious, dedicated, and committed fashion demonstrating a high level of <br />professionalism in the public works department. Rob is a very valued member of the Hugo Public <br />Works Dept. Adoption of the Consent Agenda appointed Rob to a regular employee status and made the <br />adjustment as prescribed in the City's employee salary matrix. <br />APPROVE FINAL PAYMENT TO ROSO CONTRACTING FOR WORK COMPLETED ON <br />THE PRESSURE REDUCING VALVE <br />RoSo Contracting has made application to the City for final payment for work completed on the <br />pressure -reducing valve. City Engineer Dave Mitchell has reviewed the request and found it to be <br />consistent to work completed on the project. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved final payment <br />to RoSo Contracting in the amount of $3,340. <br />APPROVE RESCHEDULING OF FEBRUARY 1717H COUNCIL MEETING TO FEB 18TH <br />The federal holiday for President's Day falls on Monday, February 17, 2003. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda approved rescheduling of the second regular meeting to Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at 7:00 pm. <br />PUBLIC HEARING - PROPOSED ON -SALE LIQUOR LICENSE INCREASE <br />At its December 5, 2002 meeting, the Council postponed the public hearing on the proposed increase to <br />the City's on -sale liquor licenses due to a lack of quorum until tonight's meeting. Mayor Miron opened <br />the public hearing and to take comment on.the proposed increase from $1,600 to $2,300, consistent with <br />liquor license fees in the immediate area and the metropolitan area for small cities. Mike Anderson from <br />Carpenter's stated that he did not object to an increase, but asked that the proposed increase be spread <br />out over a few years rather than all at once. Mayor Miron closed the public hearing. Council discussed <br />with staff the justification for the proposed increases, which were consistent with neighboring <br />communities. <br />Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to draft an ordinance approving an increase in the fee <br />for a 2004 on -sale liquor license to $2,300. <br />Puleo made motion, Petryk seconded, to amend the previous motion by including an increase in the club <br />on -sale license to $200. <br />VOTE ON AMENDMENT: All aye. Motion Carried. <br />VOTE ON ORIGINAL MOTION: All aye.
