City Council meeting of January 7, 2002 <br />Page 3 <br />over the past year. Adoption of the Consent Agenda appointed Pete Willenbring as the City's Water <br />Resource Engineer for the year 2002. <br />APPOINTMENT OF CITY ATTORNEY <br />City Attorney Dave Snyder and the law firm of Eckberg, Lammers, Wolff and Vierling have served the <br />well over the past year. Adoption of the Consent Agenda appointed Dave Snyder as the City Attorney <br />for the year 2002. <br />APPOINTMENT OF FINANCIAL ADVISOR <br />In the fall of 2001, the Council appointed Springsted, Inc., as the City's new financial advisor after the <br />departure of Rusty Fifield from Ehlers. New financial advisor Nick Dragisich and the members of the <br />Springsted team served the City very well over the past year with the CIP project. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda appointed Nick Dragisich and Springsted, Inc., as the City's financial advisor for the <br />year 2002. <br />APPOINTMENT OF CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR <br />Each year, the Council appoints a member of City staff for the role of civil defense director. For the <br />past several years, the Fire Chief has been appointed as the City's civil defense director. Adoption of <br />the Consent Agenda appointed new Fire Chief Jim Compton as the City's civil defense director for <br />2002. <br />APPOINTMENT OF DEPOSITORY FOR CITY FUNDS <br />Annually, the Council selects a depository/bank for the deposit of City funds. For the past several <br />years, Council has selected the local bank, Firstar Hugo Bank. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />appointed Firstar Hugo Bank as the official depository for City funds for 2002 <br />APPOINTMENT OF OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER <br />Annually, the Council selects a newspaper as the official publication for all public notices and <br />publishing of the ordinances. For the past several years, the Council has selected the White Bear Press <br />as the City's official newspaper. Adoption of the Consent Agenda appointed the White Bear Press as <br />the City's official newspaper for public notices and publishing for 2002. <br />APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRPERSON FOR PLANNING COMMISSION <br />The Hugo City Council appointed Dave Schumann as the chairperson for the PC last year. Dave has <br />worked hard over the past year and helped to build cohesiveness with the PC. He has treated persons <br />appearing before the PC with respect and dignity. Adoption of the Consent Agenda appointed Dave <br />Schumann as Chair of the PC for 2002. <br />APPOINTMENT OF VICE CHAIRPERSON FOR PLANNING COMMISSION <br />The Council appointed Sandy Malaski as vice chair for the PC last year.
