City Council meeting of March 4, 2002
Page 2
hauler in Hugo, and resident John Waller stated that service was what kept a smaller business
competitive, as they could not compete financially with the large companies. No formal Council action
was required.
TRAFFIC SAFETY STUDY CSAH 14 ar, I -35E (DOUG FISCHER, ANOKA COUNTY)
The Anoka County Highway Department recently completed a traffic study on the section of CSAH 14,
from 21" Street in Centerville to CR 84 (Otter Lake Road) in Lino Lakes. The purpose of the study was
to review, analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations for possible improvements and/or traffic
control changes. Mr. Fischer is also involved with the CSAH 8/14 realignment project, both as the
former Washington County's Assistant Engineer and now as the Director of Highways for Anoka
County. Staff requested he present this traffic safety study to Council in order that Council is publicly
informed of the efforts of Anoka County to address the traffic safety concern of Hugo residents at the
interchange of CSAH 14 and I -35E. Mr. Fischer stated that the intersection had a higher than average
injury accident average. Because the bridge is too narrow, it would not be feasible to install traffic
lights so Anoka County will be installing stop signs to control traffic.
Miron made motion, Granger seconded, directing staff to send a letter to Anoka County Commissioner
Margaret Langfeld thanking her for Mr. Fischer's presence at the Hugo City Council meeting, and
reaffirming the City's interest in the interchange improvements.
All aye. Motion Carried.
CONSENT AGENDA
Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda:
Approval of Claims
Approve August 17, 2002 as County's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day in Hugo
Approve Findings of Fact and Ordinance (Molitor Rezoning)
Authorize Hugo FD to Prepare Specifications and Advertise for New Tanker Truck
Approve Amendment to Hugo FD Warning Light Policy
All aye. Motion Carried.
APPROVAL OF CLAIMS
Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the claims for March 4, 2002 as presented.
APPROVE AUGUST 17.2002 AS COUNTY'S HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
COLLECTION DAY IN HUGO
Washington County Environmental Services officials have requested official permission from the City
to conduct a 2nd annual household hazardous waste collection date in Hugo. As Council is aware, the
I" annual HHH Waste Collection Day was well attended by Hugo residents in spite of the rain.
Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved August 17, 2002 as the household hazardous waste
collection day in the City of Hugo.
