City Council meeting of March 4, 2002 <br />Page 6 <br />APPROVE RENEE CUNNINGHAM AS NEW DEPUTY CLERK <br />City staff conducted six interviews last week for the new deputy clerk position. The City received 218 <br />applications for this position versus 57 in June 2001. The six candidates all had excellent qualifications <br />and interviewed very well. City staff recommended Council approve the appointment of Renee <br />Cunningham as the new deputy clerk at a salary of $28,550. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to approve the appointment of Renee Cunningham as the new <br />deputy clerk at a salary of $28,550, effective April 1, 2002, and subject to the standard six-month <br />probationary period and pre-employment physical. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />METROPOLITAN COUNCIL BLUEPRINT 2030 WORKSHOP (MARCH 12.2002) <br />City staff received official notice from the Metropolitan Council that it will be holding its blueprint <br />2030 workshop on Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at 7:30 am at the Maplewood Community Center. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, appointing City Administrator Mike Ericson, CD Director John <br />Rask, and Council member Becky Petryk to attend the Met Council workshop. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />PAVEMENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM <br />At its January 28, 2002 workshop, the Council discussed with staff the development of the public works <br />department. Council also discussed with City Engineer Dave Mitchell the pavement management <br />program, and will prioritize the street improvement project list developed by the City Engineer. The <br />City Engineer and staff will have a new street assessment policy developed within two months. <br />ROAD RESTRICTION EXEMPTIONS <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to approve an exemption to the City's road restriction for Ray <br />Kadechka at 8863 180'h Street, on March 5 and March 6, 2002 to haul fill to a wetlands project. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />Miron made motion, Granger seconded, to approve an exemption to the City's road restriction for the <br />RCWD for a project on JD2, south of 157'h Street, south of Rice Lake. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />TH61 AND 140TH STREET SIGNAL <br />City Engineer Dave Mitchell updated the Council on the status of the signal light for the intersection of <br />TH61 and 140'h Street. A financing plan for the signal light will be prepared by staff. <br />
