City Council meeting of May 20, 2002 <br />Page 8 <br />CITY COUNCIL ATTENDANCE AT 2002 AMM ANNUAL MEETING <br />City staff recommended Council indicate its interest to attend the annual AMM meeting on May 30, <br />2002. No one from the Council will be at the meeting. <br />REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF SIGN APPLICATION FROM NATIONAL RECYCLING AT <br />15717 FOREST BLVD. <br />City staff received a sign application from National Recycling, Inc., at 15717 Forest Boulevard to install <br />an illuminated eign in front of their business, which is the former Erickson Trucking. Staff had reviewed <br />the application and found it to be deficient in a number of areas. Staff recommended denial of the sign <br />application from National Recycling, Inc. <br />Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, to table this matter until the Council meeting of June 3, 2002. <br />All aye. Motion Carried <br />PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC MEETING GUIDELINES <br />At its May 9, 2002 meeting, the Hugo Planning Commission listened to Chair Dave Schumann and CD <br />Director John Rask as they presented proposed 12 -step public meeting guidelines for the PC to use in <br />accordance with its regular meeting. The guidelines are the result of staff research and ideas from other <br />municipalities who, too, have faced regulpr and controversial issues at their city's planning commission <br />meetings. City staff recommended Council officially adopt the public meeting guidelines and <br />incorporate their usage in all City commissions and City Council meetings. <br />Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, to table this matter until the Council meeting of June 3, 2002. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR/MCMA DELEGATION TO SWEDEN <br />City Administrator Mike Ericson will lead a Minnesota delegation of local government managers to <br />Sweden from May 25, 2002 to June 1, 2002. This city manager exchange program is endorsed by the <br />Minnesota/City Council Management Association as an opportunity to gain more insight into local <br />government operations in other countries. Although Mike will use accrued vacation time and his own <br />money to pay for the airline ticket, he nevertheless requested Council endorsement for this unique city <br />manager exchange and opportunity that will result in him hosting a city manager in mid-September <br />2002. The Council wished Mike well on his Sweden adventure. <br />JD2 FUNDING <br />Council was informed that 2002 budget funding was not available for JD2 culvert replacements. <br />
