City Council meeting of June 3, 2002 <br />Page 3 <br />RENEWAL OF AUTO DISMANTLING LICENSE (ARK) <br />ARK made application to the City for renewal of its auto dismantling license. City staff reviewed the <br />application and found it to be completed satisfactorily. City staff made a site inspection, as required <br />under the terms of the license, and found it to be deficient in a couple of areas. Council member Haas <br />requested that staff make sure the business complies with all fencing requirements. <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to table this application for 30 days to allow staff time to make sure <br />fencing and other deficiencies are corrected. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />2000 -GALLON TANKER TRUCK <br />On Tuesday, May 21, 2002, a bid opening was held for the new 2000 -gallon tanker truck for the Hugo <br />Fire Department. A total of three bids were received for the project. The Fire Department Truck <br />Committee reviewed the bids, and with a recommendation from City Attorney Dave Snyder, <br />recommended that the contract for the new 2000 -gallon tanker truck be awarded to Custom Fire <br />Apparatus with a low bid of $175,890 for a Kenworth truck. Council received a summary of the three <br />bids - Clarey's Safety Equipment, Custom Fire, and General Safety Equipment, as well as the alternate <br />bids to purchase one truck this year and one in 2004, and a third bid to purchase two this year. The <br />Finance Department recommended that the Council proceed with the purchase of one truck at this time <br />as specified in the CIP. The fire truck, along with the public work equipment, will be purchased with <br />equipment certificates, which must be paid over a five-year period. The total amount of the equipment <br />certificates, including the cost of issuance, would be approximately $440,000. <br />Granger made motion, Puleo seconded, that the 2000 -gallon tanker truck bid be awarded to the low <br />bidder Custom Fire Apparatus with a low bid of $175,890 for a Kenworth truck. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SEAL COATING CONTRACT <br />At its April 15, 2002 meeting, Council directed staff to advertise for the City's annual seal coating work <br />for City streets. Public Works Director Chris Petree opened bids on May 24, 2002 and recommended <br />Council award the annual seal coating contract to Allied Blacktop in the amount of $66,268.50. <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to award the annual seal coating contract to Allied Blacktop with a <br />low bid of $66,268.50. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT TRAILER <br />At its May 6, 2002 meeting, the Council directed staff to advertise for the purchase and removal of the <br />old fire hall trailer adjacent to the old City Hall. On May 31, 2002, City staff was to open bids for the <br />
