City Council meeting of August 5, 2002 <br />Page 9 <br />NATIONAL NIGHT OUT ON AUGUST 6, 2002 <br />As Council is aware, National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 2002. Deputy Amy <br />Sprague from the WCSO is working with local resident Gene Schommer, who has agreed to host a <br />National Night Out with his wife Beth, in the front of their home at 6076145" Street. Mr. Schommer <br />would like approval from the Council, as well as publicity, to encourage his neighbors to attend this <br />event. <br />Puleo made motion, Granger seconded, to publicly endorse and approve Mr. Schommer to hold a <br />National Night Out neighborhood gathering in front of his home at 6076145" Street. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />CUP FOR DENNIS AND ANN THOMPSON TO BUILD A POLE BARN <br />Dennis and Ann Thompson made application to the City for a Conditional Use Permit to construct a <br />4,500 sq ft pole building on their property located at 13755 Elmcrest Avenue. The maximum size of an <br />accessory building, under City ordinance, is 3,600 sq R on parcels greater than 10 acres in size. At its <br />July 25, 2002 meeting, the Hugo Planning Commission reviewed the CUP request and recommended <br />approval. Council member Haas questioned the compatibility of the proposed building with adjacent <br />property, and also expressed concern with the shared driveway. Mac McCollar addressed the Council <br />stating that Mr. Thompson had never signed a driveway easement agreement, which has hampered his <br />efforts to sell his property for development. CD Director John Rask stated that this information was not <br />available to the Planning Commission at their meeting. <br />Haas made motion, Granger seconded, to table this matter in an effort to resolve the driveway issue. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SCHEDULE BUDGET WORKSHOP <br />In accordance with the preparation of the City's annual budget, Council schedules a budget workshop to <br />consider and set its priority list for the upcoming year to allow for a compilation of expenditures and <br />revenues through the development of the City budget by finance director Ron OtknL Since there are a <br />number of important priorities, such as funding the West Oneka Lake Study project, and funding the <br />Hardwood Creek restoration project, staff requested that Council schedule a budget workshop to allow <br />the prioritization of these significant projects for 2003. <br />Haas made motion, Petryk seconded, to schedule a 2003 budget workshop for Monday, August 12, 2002, <br />Hugo City Hall, at 7:30 pm. <br />All aye.
