City Council meeting of October 21, 2002
Page 6
AMM POLICY ADOPTION MEETING ON NOVEMBER 7, 2002
On November 7, 2002, the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities will hold its annual policy
adoption meeting at the League of Minnesota Cities' office. The policy adoption meeting is the most
important legislative lobbying meeting held by AMM, since it sets the legislative agenda for the
upcoming legislative session. City Administrator Mike Ericson will be attending this meeting, along
with any interested Council members. Council member Haas indicated he would attend.
Miron made motion, Haas seconded, directing staff to poll Council members if they will be attending
this meeting and publish a meeting notice, if needed.
All aye. Motion Carried.
SCHEDULE PUBLIC HEARING FOR LIQUOR LICENSE FEES
In March 2002, the Council adopted a new City fee schedule for 2002, after entering into an agreement
with Computer Integrated Technologies (CPI) and Bill Lehner to complete the work. At that time,
Council directed staff to consider an increase in on -sale liquor license fees, which under ordinance,
cannot be increased until a public hearing is held. Under City ordinance, the Council must hold a public
hearing and invite all license holders to provide public comment on the suggested fee increases. Staff
has already sent the 2003 liquor license applications, with the current fee of $1,600 included in the
application. Consideration of fees would be applicable for the 2004 season and any new restaurant and
bars in the City, if the liquor license referendum passes.
Miron made motion, Petryk seconded, directing staff to publish notice of a public hearing to consider an
increase in on -sale liquor license fees on December 2, 2002, 7:00 pm, and invite the six liquor license
holders to attend the meeting.
All aye. Motion Carried.
CITY COUNCHJSTAFF HOLIDAY GATHERING
Each year, the Hugo City Council hosts a gathering for the Council, Planning Commission, Park
Commission, and City staff at Wild Wings. City sought direction from Council and its desire to hold its
annual holiday gathering in December 2002.
Puleo made motion, Petryk seconded, directing staff to investigate holding the Christmas party in the
Oneka Room.
All aye. Motion Carried.
MS 150 ROUTE CHANGE
Ron DuFresne, the Safety Director for the MS 150 bike ride from Duluth to Anoka, contacted staff
recently. The Board of Directors would like to change the finish line of the route to the City of Hugo.
Unfortunately, the event is scheduled for June 6,7,8, 2003, the normal schedule for Hugo Good Neighbor
