City Council meeting of October 21, 2002
Page 7
Days. Although the Council would like to have the MS 150 bike ride finish in the City of Hugo, the City
is already crowded because of Good Neighbor Days.
Miron made motion, Puleo seconded, directing staff to send a letter to the Board of Directors letting
them know that the City was flattered to be considered to host the finish line for the MS bike ride, but
the event would conflict with Hugo's annual Good Neighbor Days.
All aye. Motion Carried. COUNCIL MEMBER GRANGER ARRIVED AT 8:45 PM.
RECONSIDER INDOOR RIDING ARENA ORDINANCE
Puleo made motion, Petryk seconded, to reconsider an indoor riding arena ordinance adopted on
10/07/02.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Council member Frank Puleo worked with City staff to clarify the previously approved ordinance.
Puleo made motion, Petryk seconded, to adopt ORDINANCE 2002-364 AN ORDINANCE
ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR INDOOR RIDING ARENAS as amended.
VOTING AYE: Granger, Haas, Petryk, Puleo, Miron
Motion Carried.
CONCEPT PLAN FOR STOCK LUMBER SITE fFORMERLY INTERSTATE LUMBERI
Staff received a call from Pete Sampair, who stated that he had signed a Purchase Agreement with Stock
Lumber to purchase their land and buildings at the comer of TH61 and 14P Street. Over the past
several months, staff has met with this individual and his planner, and most recently, a new partner
United Properties, who desires to jointly develop the site with the individual and his developer,
Westbrook Properties. The development team presented their concept plan to the City Council, which is
the same plan presented to the Planning Commission at its October 10, 2002 meeting. This concept plan
includes the realignment of the CSAH8/14 project to a location on the south edge of the property, which
would be a highbred of the l Vd alignment, and which would also provide a significant redevelopment
opportunity for the Council to consider. Council listened to the presentation and offered their comments
that would be considered by the development team and its redevelopment plan for the site. Council
should be aware that the Purchase Agreement for the Stock Lumber property includes a clause that the
CSAH8/14 alignment be on this or the 145th Street option. The team will present their vision to the
Hugo Businessman's Association and appear before the Planning Commission at a later date.
REALIGNMENT OF CR8
Council member Haas requested an opportunity to discuss the proposed realignment of CR8. City
Administrator Mike Ericson stated that this issue would be placed on the Council's November 4, 2002
agenda
