City Council meeting of May 15, 2000 <br />Page 2 <br />AWARD OF CONTRACT —130TH STREET LIFT STATION/UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS <br />The 13CO Street lift station project provides necessary sanitary sewer service to Beaver Ponds 5th <br />Addition. Council previously approved the final plat and Development Agreement for Beaver <br />Ponds 5th Addition. The Development Agreement committed the City to proceeding with this <br />project, and required the developer to provide a letter of credit in the amount of $313,300 for <br />funding of this project. Bids were received on May 5, 2000, with the low bid provided by Dave <br />Perkins Contracting, in the amount of $224,910. This is nearly $17,000 less than OSM's <br />estimated, and $75,000 less than bids received for this work last year. Adoption of the Consent <br />Agenda awarded the construction contract to Dave Perkins Contracting in the amount of $224,910. <br />HUGO LIONS CLUB — RESERVE CITY PARK FOR GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS <br />The Hugo Lions Club requested exclusive use of the Hugo City Park on June 8, 9, 10, and 11, <br />2000, for Hugo Good Neighbor Days. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the Hugo Lions <br />Club request to use the City Park. <br />HUGO LIONS CLUB — REQUEST FOR BEER LICENSE FOR GOOD NEIGHBOR DAYS <br />The Hugo Lions Club requested a temporary license to sell beer on -sale during Good Neighbor <br />Days on June 8, 9, 10, and 11, 2000. The beer will be sold at their pavilion in the City Park. A <br />copy of a certificate of liquor liability insurance was provided to the Council. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved the license, as requested. <br />CENTERVILLE INTERCEPTOR CONDEMNATION <br />The Council considered a Consent to Condemnation and Agreement in connection with the Met <br />Council's Centerville interceptor. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the document as <br />presented. <br />YEAR 2000 CLASS V AGGREGATE ROAD PROJECT <br />Chris Petree reported to the Council bid results for the road -graveling project this year, with Forest <br />Lake Contracting being the low bidder at $5.05/ton. Adoptions of the Consent Agenda accepted <br />the recommendation of the Public Works Superintendent, and award the year 2000 road -graveling <br />project to Forest Lake Contracting at $5.05/ton. <br />PUBLIC HEARING — PROPOSED SLAUGHTER HOUSE ORDINANCE <br />A public hearing was scheduled to consider the proposed ordinance establishing regulations for the <br />operation of slaughter facilities in the City. Mayor Stoltzman opened the hearing. and described <br />the ground rules for taking public comment. The following comments were the primary issues of <br />concern: <br />OPPOSED TO THE SLAUGHTER FACILITY: volume of traffic; inhumane treatment of <br />animals; signs of rats at the site; inadequate septic system; danger to public health; improperly <br />
