City Council meeting of June 5, 2000
Page 5
Planner, Dan Comejo, and Mr. Ramberg, deciding that two conditions should be added to the
CUP: notification to the Sheriffs Department of the upcoming event, and regulation of sale of
alcohol on the site.
Barnes made motion, Leroux seconded, to approve the request of Dan Ramberg, 5676 170" Street,
for a CUP to cover horse related activities on his property including: rodeo use, campground use,
and the tack shop.
Barnes made motion, Leroux seconded, to amend the previous motion to add conditions 17 and 18:
17. Mr. Ramberg shall notify the Washington County Sheriff's Department 48 hours prior to the
the rodeo event.
18. The use of alcohol on the property shall be regulated according to Hugo's existing liquor
ordinances.
VOTE ON AMENDMENT: All aye. Motion Carried.
VOTE ON ORIGINAL MOTION: All aye. Motion Carried.
CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT (JOHN OLSEN)
Mr. John Olsen, 14728 Irish Avenue, owner of a 7.75 acre parcel of land in the agricultural district,
where he processes and stores firewood. The original CUP was issued in June 1993 for a two-year
period. He has also had his permit renewed in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 1999. There have been no
complaints to the City regarding its operation. The Planning Commission agreed to recommend
approval of the CUP for the processing and storing of wood with the revised conditions as stated in
the City Planner's staff report.
Stoltzman made motion, Barnes seconded, to renew the CUP for John Olsen, 14728 Irish Avenue,
for a three-year period, to allow the processing and storage of firewood on the property.
All aye. Motion Carried.
METROPOLITAN COUNCIL (LIVABLE COMMUNITIES ACT)
City Planner, Dan Cornejo, and City Administrator, Mike Ericson, met with Met Council
representatives regarding the City's participation in the Livable Communities Act. Previously,
City Council members, Becky Petryk and Chuck Haas, met with City Planner, Dan Comejo, and
Met Council representatives regarding the City's participation in the Met Council Livable
Communities Act, as well. In order to be eligible to receive grant dollars from the Met Council for
upcoming work with the City of Hugo and its land use issues, the City needs to be a participant of
the Livable Communities Act. City staff recommended that the City Council approve the
resolution outlining the City's participation in the Met Council's Livable Communities Act. The
City of Hugo's agreement to participate in the Act will allow the City assistance from Met Council
in developing its policy for helping the Met Council meet density standards adopted by the Met
Council for the metropolitan Twin Cities area.
