City Council meeting of October 2, 2000 <br />Page 5 <br />REQUEST TO INSTALL CATCH BASIN ON GREENE AVENUE (SAN CARTIER) <br />The improvement project on Greene Avenue included two lifts of bituminous, and the installation of <br />concrete curb and gutter on the west side of the road, and no curb on the east side. The final wear <br />course is scheduled for October 2000, so the City Engineer reviewed the need for a storm water catch <br />basin in front of the Joe San Cartier property. The City Engineer's office contacted Mr. San Cartier, <br />and he does not wish to participate financially to offset the estimated project cost of $2,500. It was the <br />City Engineer's opinion that this was not a significant issue. <br />Haas made motion, Barnes seconded, that the Council opted to not proceed with installation of a catch <br />basin in front of the Joe San Cartier property on Greene Avenue. <br />VOTING AYE: Barnes, Haas, Stoltzman <br />VOTING NAY: Petryk <br />Motion Carried. <br />CALL FOR PUBLIC HEARING TO INCREASE MAYOR AND COUNCIL SALARIES <br />At its regularly scheduled meeting on September 18, 2000, the Council took action and approved the <br />increase in salaries for the Mayor and Council. In accordance with City ordinance, all increases in <br />salary must be approved for by ordinance, which calls for a public hearing to be held. City staff <br />recommends the Council call for a public hearing on Monday, October 100, to consider the increase in <br />salaries for the Mayor and Council. <br />Barnes made motion, Stoltzman seconded, to schedule a public hearing on October 16, 2000, to <br />consider an ordinance increasing the salaries for the Mayor and Council. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />SWALE PROJECT ON ETHAN AVENUE (WUSSLER/PETERSON) <br />City Engineer, Dave Mitchell, received a quote from Quast Construction to do the City's work on the <br />swale and culvert project on the Wussler/Peterson property. Quast is the contractor hired by Jack <br />Wussler to construct his retaining wall. <br />Haas made motion, Barnes seconded, to award the bid to work on the swale and culvert project on the <br />Wussler/Peterson property to Quast General Contracting in the amount of $25,634. <br />VOTING AYE: Barnes, Haas, Stoltzman <br />ABSTAINED: Petryk <br />Motion Carried. <br />NEW CITY HALL PROJECT <br />The City Administrator reported that he had met with the owners of the property selected by the <br />Council as the site for the new City Hall.
