City Council meeting of March 14, 1996
Page 2
tanker was necessary given the Department's past use of the vehicle, the
availability of backup vehicles from adjacent communities, and its impact
on the City's fire insurance rate.
The Chief recommended that one of the two pickup trucks be sold and not
replaced. The City Administrator informed the Council that the pickup
being purchased for the Street Department this year could be used as a
backup for the Department, if needed. After discussion, the Council directed"the Fire Department.to
gather additional information in two areas: 1) whether, based on the
assumptions made in the City's recently adopted Comp Plan, another Fire
Hall may not be warranted in the community at some time in the future, and
if so, what the proposed service areas for the two stations would be; and
2) define more exactly the minimum property requirements for the
construction of a new Fire Hall.
Barnes made motion, LaValle seconded, to adjourn at 12:10 PM.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Robert A. Museus
City Administrator
