City Council meeting of May 6, 1996
Page 4
CORRESPONDENCE
Mayor Miron received a letter from Chip Robinson, Administrator for Forest
Lake, questioning Hugo's willingness to participate in a Joint Powers
Agreement that would help support a proposed ice arena in Forest Lake in
the event revenues fall short of the required amounts to support the arena
and pay off the bonds.
Miron made motion, LaValle seconded, directing staff to respond to Mr.
Robinson's request stating Hugo would not be willing to participate in a
Joint Powers Agreement because Hugo has four school districts and its own
infrastructure matters to deal with at this time.
All aye. Motion Carried.
RICE LAKE MEADOWS
The City Council considered the Planning Commission's recommendation to
conduct a public hearing on the petition to vacate a portion of Geneva
Avenue, south of 144th Street. Review of the easement for the specified
street shows that the easement was granted to an adjacent property owner,
and not the City. The City Council determined that it had no authority to
vacate such easement.
Barnes made motion, Goiffon seconded, authorizing staff to negotiate with
the owners of the easement and developer for Rice Lake Meadows, that in
lieu of the City claiming the easement for Geneva Avenue, the developer
grant an easement for a bike path and sidewalk across Lot S, and construct
a sidewalk along Geneva Avenue through the development.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Barnes made motion, Goiffon seconded, to adjourn at 8:10 PM.
All aye. Motion Carried.
Mary. n Creager
City le
rk
