City Council meeting of July 1. 1996 <br />Page 4 <br />Industrial Park. The Community Development Grant Application request=_• <br />$50Q,000 from the Minnesota Investment Fund as a grant to the City of <br />Hugo. This money would then be loaned to the firm to assist in their <br />expansion with repayment of the loan made to the City of Hugo. The City <br />of Hugo would establish an Economic Development Fund from the proceeds to <br />assist in further business expansion in the community. <br />LerOUX made motion. Barnes seconded, to approve the Community Development <br />Grant Application requesting $500,000 from the Minnesota Investment Fund. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />POST OFFICE SITING <br />The Council considered a memo from the City Administrator recommendinq <br />that the City work with the U.S. Postal Service to change the proposed <br />location of the new Post Office in the community from the Flay Avenue <br />site, near 150th Street, to a location which better serves the needs of <br />the community. At the special Council meeting of June 25, 1996, the <br />Council expressed interest in the Marier property located along T.H. u1. <br />An initial contact with the property owner has been made by staff. If the <br />Council desires to proceed with moving the site, staff requests authority <br />to contact the U.S. Postal Service and begin negotiations. <br />Lerou;; made motion, Barnes seconded, authorizing City staff to contact th- <br />U.S. Postal Service in an effort to change the site of the Post Office <br />site to complement the City's Downtown Redevelopment plan. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br />The Metro Council, in its review of the City's revised Comprehensive Plan, <br />stated the need for including a five-year capital improvement program in <br />the Plan. The Council reviewed a worksheet to be used in establishing_ <br />guidance for recreation of such a program. The Council was asked to <br />return their completed worksheets by the Council meeting of 7/15/96. <br />ETHAN AVENUE OPEN HOUSE <br />The City Engineer prepared an initial plan for the reconstruction of Eth;---.n <br />Avenue, from the north edge of the Oakshore Park subdivision to 120th <br />Street. Staff believes that an open house for the residents living along <br />this street should be conducted in the near future in order to allow them <br />to see the plan and make comments on it. <br />Leroux made motion, Goiffon seconded, authorizing City staff to proceed <br />with plans for an open house for residents living on Ethan Avenue in order <br />to allow them to see reconstruction plans. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
