City Council meeting of June 19, 1995 <br />Page ._, <br />PROPOSED ORDINANCE CHANGE TO REQUIRE CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY <br />Previously, the City staff recommended to the Council that the City <br />require a certificate of occupancy for all new building construction and <br />remodeling performed in the community. The Council requested staff <br />provide information regarding the number of outstanding building permits <br />in the community. Such document was provided to the Council for their <br />consideration. It is staff opinion that a certificate of occupancy <br />reqUi'rement would improve the compliance rate with the City's building <br />code. <br />LaValle made motion, Goiffon seconded, directing staff to prepare a draft <br />ordinance to require certificates of occupancy and schedule a public <br />hearing for August 7, 1995. <br />VOTING AYE: Goiffon and LaValle <br />VOTING NAY: Leroux and Miron <br />Motion Failed. <br />DISCUSSION ('Z.ONING ORDINANCE CHANGE/SEXUALLY ORIENTED_ BUSINESSES) <br />The National Family Legal Foundation provided the City with a draft <br />ordinance which would control the location of seXUally-oriented businesses <br />through the City's zoning ordinance. The Foundation's purpose is to limit <br />the potential negative impact of these types of businesses on residential <br />areas. <br />Leroux made motion, Miron seconded, to consider this matter at the time of <br />City zoning changes during revision of the Comprehensive Flan. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />POST OFFICE UPDATE <br />In accordance with Council direction, the City Administrator submitted an <br />offer to the U.S. Postal Service for a portion of the Svoboda Property <br />being purchased by the City as the location for the new Post Office in the <br />community. At the time of tonight's meeting, a response had not been <br />received from the Postal Service. <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY HRA <br />LaValle made motion, Leroux seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 1995-9, A <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A JOINT POWERS CONSORTIUM <br />AGREEMENT FOR THE FEDERAL HOME PROGRAM. <br />VOTING AYE: Goiffon, LaValle, Leroux. Miron <br />Motion Carried. <br />HUGO FIRE FIGHTERS TRAINING <br />Leroux made motion, Miron seconded, to extend the City's contract with <br />Dean Wallick for training of Hugo fire fighters, until 06/30/96. <br />All aye. Motion Carried. <br />
