City Council meeting of November 6, 1995
Page 6
Mr. Kien Charest, 6930 177th Street, requested that the City consider
reduction of the speed limit on 177th Street, between Henna Avenue and
Greystone Avenue. Staff review of the street indicates that MNDOT will
probably retain the 55 mph on the road, but this is not a certainty.
Also, there are concerns that if MNDOT was to widen its review outside of
the designated portion of 177th Street, they may recommend or require an
increase in the speed limit on 177th Street between Greystone Avenue and
TH 61.
Miron made motion, LaValle seconded, to deny the request of Mr. Ken
Charest for a speed limit study on 177th Street, based on Council opinion
that MNDOT may recommend or require an increase in the speed limit.
All aye. Motion Carried.
ENTERTAINMENT ORDINANCE
As requested by the City Council, the City Attorney prepared an ordinance
requiring that restaurants and bars obtain a permit from the City prior to
conducting entertainment within the establishment or the grounds of the
establishment. The Council previously received a copy of this ordinance
directly from the City Attorney.
Leroux made motion, Barnes seconded, to table this matter for further
consideration.
All aye. Motion Carried.
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING FEES FOR GIS MAF SALES
The Council considered a resolution providing for the creation of a fee
schedule to cover City costs in developing and providing GIS information
to members of the public.
Barnes made motion. Goiffon seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION 95-19, A
RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING FEES FOR G.I.S. MAF SALES.
VOTING AYE: Barnes, Goiffon, LaValle, Leroux, Miron
Motion Carried.
SCHOOL SECTION/FLAISTED/GOGGINS LAKES DRAINAGE ISSUE.
The Council considered a draft letter to the May Town Board suggesting
joint effort to resolve the flooding problems being experienced in the
lake's area. It is envisioned that an encaineerina study be conducted on
the basin to determine potential for creating an outlet to drain down the
high waters and potentially construct such an outlet under Minnesota
Statutes, Chapter 444. This would assess the cost of the study and
potential project to all the property owners in the lakes' drainage basin.
Dave Truax, Hugo's representative on the Brown's Creek. WMO, was present tc
update the Council on their activities.
