Planning Commission Minutes — April 24, 2008
Page 2
copy did not include a letter from Rottlund Homes, and showed some concerns for the signage
criteria.
Kendra explained the Rottlund letter to the applicant, and Bryan stated that they could resolve
the issues with the signage in a separate submittal.
Schumann questioned the location of the landscaping and asked if they would be opposed to
plantings on the south side of the lot to screen from Rottlund's townhomes.
Scott said that he did not see a problem with adding the additional landscaping in that location.
McRoberts questioned why they could not comply with the design standards of Victor Gardens
PUD. He asked if it was because they were unable to for a certain reason or if it was because
they were unwilling to.
Scott replied stating that they in fact did have similar design standards and building materials and
that the PUD does not state the term "French Architecture" in the requirements.
McRoberts asked staff to clarify the PUD standards and what the applicant could do to comply
with the rest of the Victor Garden's existing buildings.
Schuman stated that is on the edge of the Victor Gardens PUD and could be a good transition
from one architecture style to another. The future architecture styles of the surrounding
buildings could be much different. He stated he does not have a problem with the plan proposed.
Weidt, Moore, and Rosenquist agreed that it would be a good transition and it is of quality
materials.
Weidt made a motion, Moore seconded to approve the site plan for Lake Area Bank with the
deletion of item 4C of the Resolution.
AYES: Rosenquist, Schumann, Moore, Weidt
ABSTAIN: McRoberts
Motion Carries.
Site Plan for DK Dockendorf
Associate Planner Rachel Simone explained the proposed site plan located at 13891 Forest
Boulevard North. She explained that it would be a retail building for commercial use with
possible restaurant tenants. There is an existing building on the site that would be demolished
prior to the construction of the new building. She stated that in the event that the Planning
Commission approves the site for restaurants then they would have to ask the City Council to
amend the text in the ordinance relating to that matter.
Staff recommendations included wrapping the building with architecture particularly the north
