Planning Commission Minutes — December 14, 2006 Page 3 Hoffbeck suggested the requirements for roof top screening be different for retail and industrial uses. Bailly asked if the roof top equipment was larger than originally intended on the Oneka Pet Resort building and wondered if the equipment could be painted to blend in with surroundings. Schumann said the requirement for screening was part of the original agreement, and the applicant should meet the spirit and intent of it. The CDD explained a temporary Certificate of Occupancy had been issued and the only issue was the screening of the roof top equipment. Andy Faulkner, Faulkner Construction, who worked on the building, explained that the air units ended up to be higher than intended and questioned what they were to be screened from. The CDD said they were required to be screened from public view and Weidt said he felt the view from the cul-de-sac and Highway 61 was important. The Commission agreed the equipment needed to be screened and asked staff to work with the applicant on a way to comply with the requirement. Code Enforcement Update On July 20, 2006 there was a joint meeting between the City Council and Planning Commission to talk about code enforcement issues. At that meeting the code enforcement subcommittee was formed to work on the issues that the City had received complaints about. The subcommittee consisted of Council Members Becky Petryk and Frank Puleo, and Planning Commission Members Bob Rosenquist, Tom Weidt, and Kelly Bailly. The subcommittee focused on the topic of parking and storing of recreation vehicles and created an ordinance which defined "recreational vehicles" and addressed how many recreational vehicles could be parked or stored on the property, where they must be parked, and what would be required for setbacks and screening. The Commission reviewed the ordinance and forwarded it to the City Council. Goal Setting for 2007 The Commission discussed their goals for 2007 and agreed on the following: Finish the Rural Preservation Ordinance Finish the Code Enforcement Updates Complete 2008 Comprehensive Plan Update Develop Plans for the Northern Gateway
