MINUTES <br />HUGO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />May 27, 2004 <br />Call to Order <br />Chairman Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Bailly, Hoffbeck, Kleissler, McRoberts, Rosenquist, Schumann <br />ABSENT: Malaski <br />ALSO PRESENT: Bryan Bear, Community Development Director (CDD) <br />Michele Lindau, Secretary <br />Minutes of May 13, 2004 <br />McRoberts made motion, Bailly seconded, to approve the minutes of May 13, 2004 as <br />submitted. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />New Life Church CUP for Sign Location <br />The Commission held a public hearing to consider the request of New Life Church, 6000 <br />148th Street North, for a Conditional Use Permit to allow an advertising sign on a vacant <br />parcel owned by John Peloquin, 15175 Forest Boulevard. The parcel is located at the <br />northeast corner of U.S. Hwy 61 an152nd Street North. <br />The CDD explained that the proposed sign face would be 4' X 8' and approximately ten <br />feet above grade. The Comprehensive Land Use Regulations require advertising signs to <br />be placed at least 1000 feet apart, therefore, this would be the only sign permitted only <br />advertising sign permitted on the property. There is a 78 foot right-of-way for Highway <br />61 along the western edge of the site. Staff is requiring the sign be setback ten feet from <br />the right-of-way. The sign would also be 150 feet from the centerline of 152"d Street <br />North, north of the existing Peloquin Industrial Park entrance sign. <br />Chair Schumann opened the public hearing. <br />Jerry Gunderson, President of New Life Church, was asked how permanent the sign <br />would be. Gunderson said the sign would be on 4' X 4' posts. The Commission was <br />concerned about the Conditional Use Permit running with the property. The CDD <br />explained that, though the CUP would run with the property, the new owner had the right <br />- 1 - <br />
