Planning Commission Minutes — May 27, 2004 <br />to remove the sign unless there was a contractual agreement between the owner and <br />applicant. <br />The Commission agreed that the sign ordinance needed to be revisited and possibly <br />amended in accordance with the downtown redevelopment plan. <br />McRoberts made motion, Kleissler seconded, to recommend approval of the Conditional <br />Use Permit for New Life Church for an off site sign. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />St. John's Church Site Plan for Pavilion <br />The Commission considered the application of St. John the Baptist Church, 14383 Forest <br />Boulevard, for site plan approval to allow the construction of a pavilion adjacent to the <br />east parking lot. The pavilion would be 70 feet long by 36 feet wide to be used for <br />church gatherings. <br />Mike Gibbs, representing the Church, explained that it would be a wood structure with a <br />metal roof. <br />The Commission agreed that it would be a welcome addition to the church facility. <br />In the absence of Commissioner Malaski, Chair Schumann asked if there would be any <br />landscaping around the pavilion. The Church had no plans to landscape at this time. <br />McRoberts made motion, Bailly seconded, to recommend approval of the site plan for St. <br />John the Baptist Church. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Draft Resolution Regarding Meeting Adjournment Times <br />After much discussion at previous meetings regarding the adjournment time, the <br />Community Development Director drafted a resolution establishing rules governing the <br />length of Planning Commission meetings. <br />The Commission discussed several possibilities to keep meetings under three hours such <br />as better audience/speaker management with the use of sign up sheets and limited <br />speaking time, informing the public of meeting procedures, and better scheduling by staff <br />of public hearings. <br />They also discussed ways to handle those meetings which were clearly not going to <br />adjourn by 10:00 pm. Some suggestions were to begin meetings earlier, avoid beginning <br />-2- <br />
