MINUTES
HUGO PLANNING COMMISSION
JANUARY 23, 2003
(Fall to Order
Chairperson Schumann called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.
PRESENT: Bailly, Kleissler, McRoberts, Peltier, Rosenquist, Schumann
ABSENT: Malaski
ALSO PRESENT: John Rask, Community Development Director
Kendra Lindahl, Planner
Michele Lindau, Planning Commission Secretary
Minutes of January 9, 2003
Peltier made motion, Kleissler seconded, to recommend approval of the minutes of January 9,
2003, as submitted.
All Ayes. Motion carried.
Hugo Bald Eagle Industrial Park 5th Addition
The Commission held a public hearing to consider the request of the City of Hugo for a
preliminary plat for Bald Eagle Industrial Park 5th Addition consisting of six industrial lots
located north of 130th Street and east of Fenway Boulevard. The subject property is
approximately 13 aces in size and is currently vacant.
At their meeting in April 2002, the Planning Commission discussed the lack of developable land
available within the City for industrial use and talked about the possibility of subdividing the City
owned property to make it more marketable.
The Community Development Director explained that the proposed lots would receive access
from a new cul-de-sac that would be extended into the site and the lots would meet all size and
setback requirements. He also referred to several potential occupants who have approached him
looking for industrial sites.
Schumann opened the public hearing.
Jim Kellison, 4394 129th Street North, said he attended this meeting to represent two potential
tenants. Kellison is the president of Kelco Real Estate Development Services. Kellison said he
felt the City needed to bring in more industrial developments with higher tax base. He also said
that this would create jobs and employees, who would in turn spend money in the community.
There were no other comments, and Schumann closed the public hearing.
