Motion made by Agness, seconded by Schumann to approve the request as a
variance rather than a SUP with the following conditions:
1. That the accessory building not be used as a place
of business;
2. That the accessory building be constructed such that
the appearance matches the principal building.
Aye: Agness, Schumann, Peltier, Malaski
Nay: Waller
Richard and Mikel Brandt, of Cee Jays Auto, Inc. 16615 Forest Blvd.,
requested to amend their existing site plan which was approved last
month. The change is to construct a 40' x 72' (2880 sq. ft.) building for
dismantling of vehicles. The previous site plan called for a 60' x 72'
(4320 sq. ft.) addition to the existing 7200 sq. ft. building. The
proposed accessory building would be located approximately 32 foot south
of the existing building. Construction included removal of an existing
fence adjacent to the entry drive.
Mr. Elliott was asked to explain the request, neither Richard or Mikel
Brandt were present. The question was raised as to previously approved
conditions of the amended SUP, in particular provisions of the proposed
fence. Mr. Elliott indicated those provisions were to remain in effect,
that this site plan change was to be included with the SUP conditions.
Recommendations from the discussion included:
1. Impervious concrete floor
2. No floor drains
3. Berm around the base of the building
Motion by Schumann, seconded by Malaski to approve the amended Special Use
Permit site plan.
All aye. Motion passed.
SPECIAL USE PERMIT - BEVER
Mr. Elliott explained that the SUP (continued) of Jim Bever for his
landscaping business was not yet ready for review. The matter was agreed
to be continued to the next meeting.
ZONING ORDINANCE
The Planning Commission received a staff report with questions to discuss
in revising the City Zoning Ordinance. The general consensus was to bring
questions to the next meeting.
Motion by Schumann, seconded by Agness, to place zoning discussion on the
agenda for August 28, 1996.
