Hugo Planning Commission
February 28, 1979
LaValle would have to be reimbursed by Washington County'for the taxes she has paid
on the land. Mr. Moore is seeking permission to divide a 130' lot into a 70' and 60'
lot# to be used as single family dwellings. He stated that he had the white building
inspected for the soundness of the concrete foundation, and it was determined that
the building could be made a safe, livable structure. Gillen had no problem with the
70' and 60' lots, but wanted the garage and exterior stairway removed. He stated that
an internal stairway should be adequate for a single family residence, and would insure
that the building would not remain a duplex. McAllister felt that it would be
appropriate to provide Mrs. LaValle with a copy of the these minutes for her reference.
Motion made by Gillen, seconded by Peltier, to recommend approval of the Minor Subdi-
vision for John Moore as presented, to divide a 130' lot into two lots (60' and 701),
subject to the conversion of the duplex to a single family dwelling, the removal of
the center garage, and removal of the exterior stairway on the 70' lot. A legal
description for the two parcels is to be provided.
VOTING FOR: Peltier, Greger, Gillen, McAllister and Ehret
Motion Carried.
RICHARD GENRICH - SPECIAL USE PERMIT
Mr. Ken Zimmerman, prospective land owner, was present at the meeting. The Commission
received a letter from David and Laureen Skypulski stating their objections to the
proposed operation. Mr. Zimmerman stated that because of all the objections from
nearby residents, he would not be willing to put himself in jeopardy because of un-
answered questions. Because of certain limitations that would be conditioned in the
permit, if granted, it would not be economically feasible for him to enter into the
venture. Gillen stated that he discussed the matter with Howard Kuusisto, and the
main problem with the road lies south of Goodview and 130th Street. Gillen felt
that the number of trips made by the trucks would not damage a good piece of road.
Motion made by Ehret, seconded by McAllister, to recommend denial of the application
for a Special Use Permit for the estate of William Schletty, to operate, maintain, and
store a split wood supply. The reason for the recommendation is public opposition
and known condition of city street, mainly Goodview Avenue, and its considered inability
to carry track traffic.
VOTING FOR: Greger, McAllister, and Ehret
VOTING AGAINST: Gillen
ABSTAINED: Peltier
Motion Carried.
STEVEN PARENTEAU - INFORMATION
Mr. Parenteau was interested in purchasing land in the RB district to store equipment
to be used in his sewer business. It was the general concensus of the Commission
that the RB district would not handle his request.
