CITY OF HUGO <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks Commission <br />Mike Ericson, City Administrator <br />FROM: Scott Anderson, Senior Engineering Technician <br />SUBJECT: 2008 Park Tour Agenda <br />DATE: September 10, 2008 <br />AGENDA <br />1. BERNIN PROPERTY (See attached concept plan) <br />The Bernin farm was purchased by the City in 2002. It consists of 23 acres on the southwest <br />shore of Oneka Lake. The property is adjacent to Oneka Lake Park which is 10 acres in size <br />for a combined total of 33 acres. Around the time of purchase a "concept" plan was <br />developed by Landscape Architect Laurie McRostie (see attached plan). This concept plan <br />includes the development of the park to be used by students learning about nature as well as <br />residents looking to enjoy a relaxing environment. Amenities included in the concept plan <br />include a boardwalk and woodchip trails as well as a wooded area that would be restored <br />back to an oak savannah. Also included is a 6 car parking lot, a small play structure and a <br />fishing pier all linked to the existing public lake access. <br />2. HANSON PROPERTY <br />This property consists of approximately 120 acres and has been identified by City staff, <br />Council and the Parks Commission as a potential site for softball/baseball complex or <br />complete athletic complex. For decades the property was used as a gravel pit and <br />commercial asphalt plant, until recently when the property was reclaimed and vegetation <br />
