A Public <br />Hearing will be held at the Planning Commission of October 28, 2010 to discuss the <br />recommendations. <br />Commission members agreed to participate in discussions at the October 28, 2010 <br />meeting and to encourage the commercial and industrial developments be required to <br />make park dedications. <br />IV. Update on Health Sub -Committee <br />Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner and Commissioner Noel Schmidt continue to attend the <br />Health Sub -Committee meetings. Determination of what may qualify for SHIP funding <br />has been difficult but a yearly community health event may be eligible. A family bicycle <br />ride could be held in late September each year and promote active healthy lifestyles <br />and/or awareness of trails and recreational opportunities. Grant funding could be used <br />to assist with planning and advertising cots. A pre -application was submitted and <br />approved for a grant recently made available by Washington County. An application <br />was drafted by the Health Sub -Committee. <br />Schmidt made a motion, Berger seconded to support an application for SHIP funding for <br />a community health event. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />V. Discussion on a Snow Jam <br />Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner presented the purposed snow Jam event layout. This <br />includes a DJ, inflatable equipment, coordinating with sponsorships from local <br />businesses to assist with costs for games/prizes. This event could be held on January <br />15, 2010 with no other community events scheduled on this same date. An estimate of <br />costs was also provided. <br />Birch made a motion, Berger seconded to give authorization to start solicitation for <br />sponsorships and funding assistance. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />VI. Discussion on Sathre Prope <br />Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner provided a site Map showing 13040 Ingersoll Ave N. <br />Property owner Alicia Sathre is offering the City an opportunity for future park land with <br />access to Sunset Lake. The property was appraised for $694,000. and the asking price <br />is $2,000,000. <br />Taylor made a motion, Larsen second to not pursue the purchasing the property. <br />All Aye.
