Background Memo <br />Aaarove Minutes From June 9, 2010 Meetin <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the June 9, 2010 Parks Commission Meeting <br />as presented. <br />Lions Park Neiahborhood Meetin <br />At the June 9, 2010 meeting, the Parks Commission heard a recommendation from the skate <br />park design group on skate park equipment to be installed with the Lions Park development. <br />Also at that meeting, the Parks Commission heard a presentation from Pete Pederson of the <br />Hugo Lions Club requesting an expansion of the concept plan and offering a donation in an <br />amount not to exceed $10,000. The Parks Commission approved the revisions to the plan and <br />the acceptance of the donation. <br />At their June 21, 2010 meeting, the Hugo City Council reviewed the expanded concept plan and <br />budget with the donation from the Hugo Lions Club. Brady Peterson was present to discuss the <br />skate park equipment. The City Council approved with resolution a donation from the Lions <br />Club not to exceed $10,000. <br />Staff notified residents near Lions Park of the proposed plan for development of Lions Park and <br />a neighborhood meeting. Staff recommends that the Parks Commission hold a neighborhood <br />meeting for the residents near Lions Park and make a recommendation to the Hugo City <br />Council for their July 19, 2010 meeting. <br />III. Discussion on Park Dedication Policy <br />Staff will present possible changes to the Park Dedication Policy. <br />IV. Discussion on WBL Matchinq Grant Funding <br />At the March 10, 2010 meeting, the Parks Commission discussed an application for funding <br />through the White Bear Lake Community Services and Recreation matching grant program. <br />Funding for nets and goals at the Hanifl Fields Athletic Park in the amount of $3,525 was <br />applied for to be matched by funds by the Parks Commission. A motion carried to support the <br />application and have further dialogue on funding. <br />White Bear Lake School District approved the matching grant application for the amount of <br />$2,000 and requested invoices totaling at least $4,000 for soccer goals and nets. <br />Staff contacted White Bear Soccer Club to supply invoices. Dave Scheer, President of the <br />White Bear Soccer Club has provided an invoice for $661.00 of the purchase of goals and nets <br />at the Hanifl Fields Athletic Park.
