6. Methods <br />The City of Hugo Public Works Department will be planting the trees in Arbre Park with <br />the assistance of local Boy Scouts. A youth working towards his Eagle Scout has offered <br />to recruit volunteers to assist in planting of the trees and in clean up of the site. <br />The Hugo Public Works Department will plant the trees according to their individual <br />specifications at the beginning of April. They will continue to maintain the trees. <br />7. Personnel <br />Project Supervisor: Michael Loeffler, Public Works Lead Worker <br />Mr. Loeffler is a tree inspector certified by the Minnesota <br />Department of Natural Resources. <br />Assistants: Public Works Department staff as needed <br />The City of Hugo has several Public Works Department staff that <br />are qualified to assist with this type of project. <br />Volunteers: 5-8 youth Boy Scouts, leadership provided by Michael Marier, <br />Eagle Scout Candidate. <br />Mr. Marier has provided the City with a project proposal which <br />includes research and provides recommendations regarding types <br />of trees, planting procedures and maintenance as well as guidelines <br />for safety. <br />Grant Assistant: Shayla Syverson, Parks Planner <br />Ms. Syverson, Parks Planner, has been working with the Eagle <br />Scout to ensure consistency with the City's overall Master Parks <br />Plan. <br />8. Maintenance and Management Plan <br />A. Following planting of the trees, they will be watered regularly through timed <br />irrigation. They will be closely monitored on a weekly basis. In the fall, the trees will be <br />added to the tree maintenance plan for Hugo which includes annual trimming and winter <br />preparation including wrapping as needed. The trees are annually inspected by Public <br />Works staff and overseen by the Public Works Lead Worker. <br />B. As the City replaces trees or plants new trees, trees are selected dependent on the site <br />they are to be located in with consideration of how they will enhance the diversity of <br />Hugo trees overall. <br />
