III. Parking / Circulation
1. Fitzgerald should be closed off with drop-off areas for City Hall and the park.
2. A combination of bump out parking spaces along the street and parking lots within the park
should be incorporated.
3. Lawn space for large -event parking should be allowed for.
4. Direct connections between the parking lot and the shelter should be considered.
5. The continuity between City Hall and the park is important and this element should be
incorporated into the final plan.
6. Promoting pedestrian connections to the surrounding neighborhood and regional trail will be
important as the city grows.
7. The use of large trucks during events should be acknowledged and accommodated, as best able
to, in the design of the park master plan.
IV. Misc. Items
1. The concert -style seating area was well -accepted and allows for flexible use of the space when
performances are not taking place.
2. The idea of a portable tent was not well-received as shown in Concept #1 ft #2.
3. A water feature should be incorporated either at the main park / city hall entrance or at the
performance stage area.
4. There is still some debate whether a raised stage for a portable 'show -mobile' should be
included or if a permanent structure should be built with a raised stage. This is something that
could easily be phased in over time should the demand warrant a permanent structure.
701 Xenia Avenue South, Suite 300
Minneapolis, MN 55416
