A
JJ//
■'MSB
&& Associales, Ine. engineering -planning - environmental - construction
Lions Park Master Plan — Concept Review Meeting
Date: December 16, 2014
Re: Concept Review Meeting Notes
WSB Project No. 1904-640
Meeting Comments:
701 Xenia Avenue South
Suite 300
Minneapolis, MN 55416
Tel: 763-541-4800
Fax: 763-541-1700
The following are comments taken from the Hugo Parks, Recreation & Open Space Commission
meeting held on December 10, 2014. Comments include those from the Commission members
as well as members of the audience. Notes are interpretations of the note taker — please report
any errors, omissions and/or discrepancies promptly for correction.
General Comments:
• Skate Park: should be located near lighted and highly visible areas such as by city hall or
a busy street.
• Assisted Living Housing: there was a comment that the residents would like the active
areas by the housing so they could watch what was going on. The playground and splash
pad in this area would also be easier to get to and watch when they had kids visiting.
• Make sure the green space is large enough for Good Neighbor Days including semi -truck
access and this should have proper access.
• Questions about the possibility for traffic calming devices or other traffic control at the
147th and Finale intersection if it becomes a busy through street later.
• Main pavilion should be built up rather than a terraced grass area for amphitheater.
• Like secondary, smaller shelters by the playground for shade.
• Incorporate room for court space, whether it is tennis, basketball or pickleball.
• Ensure proper lighting is incorporated.
Concept One:
• Ranked 2nd in popularity
• Like the main pavilion in close proximity to the parking areas with the recreational
amenities located around it.
• Some like the playground close to the corner by Subway.
• Need more parking directly next to City Hall.
• Traffic along Fitzgerald may speed through.
• Baseball important, but not impressed with the lack of design elements in the NW corner
of the site.
St. Cloud • Minneapolis • St. Paul
Equal Opportunity Employer
wsbeng.com
