Annoint Commissioner to Gatewav Subcommittee <br />Parks Planner, Shayla Denaway shared with the Commission that one of the 2015 goals <br />of the City Council is to build a vision for Hugo's gateways. The City Council directed <br />staff to organize a subcommittee that would prioritize and design features for the <br />gateways and other community areas. The subcommittee will include members from the <br />City Council, Planning Commission, Economic Development Authority, and Parks <br />Commission. Members of the subcommittee will likely discuss monuments and signage <br />for the north and south entrances to Hugo, along with discussions on sidewalk benches, <br />City Hall signage, park benches and signage, intersection beatification, downtown <br />features, and other community design elements. <br />Schmid and Tennyson expressed interest in serving on the subcommittee. <br />Berger made motion, Strub seconded to direct staff to consider either Schmid or <br />Tennyson for the subcommittee based on their availability once the subcommittee dates <br />have been established. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />IV. Update on Citv Owned Proaerty on Goodview Avenue <br />Parks Planner, Shayla Denaway provided background to the Commission regarding the <br />City owned property on Goodview Avenue that was discussed at the January 15, 2015 <br />Parks Commission meeting. As directed by the Commission staff has placed the <br />property on the weekly summer maintenance schedule to combat the trash issues, <br />trimmed back trees and shrubs, and will post signage stating that no motorized vehicles, <br />fires, or alcohol is allowed. Staff recommends that the Parks Commission make a <br />motion to change the hours of use of the property to be 12:00 pm to dusk. <br />Commissioners discussed the use of the property and commented on the positive <br />improvements already made. <br />Schmid made motion, Tennyson seconded to post the hours of use of the property to be <br />9:00 am to dusk. <br />All Aye. Motion Carried. <br />V. Undate on Lions Park Plannin <br />Parks Planner, Shayla Denaway provided an update to the Commission regarding Lions <br />Park planning. The Lions Park Master Plan has been approved by the City Council and <br />the next step is for the Parks Commission to decide how to proceed. Denaway <br />presented funding and phasing options to the Commissioners for their consideration. <br />Commissioners felt that it was important to focus on cost sharing for roads and <br />sidewalks with future street reconstruction projects.
