Recommended Goals & Strategies <br />GOAL 1: Revise and refresh the Library Mission Statement as a foundation for <br />future direction, focus and activity. <br />Strategy 1: Review the current mission statement and articulate more active and <br />energizing language that will advance the work of the Library in accomplishing its <br />strategic directions. <br />Strategy 2: Communicate the mission statement broadly and frequently to clarify the <br />Library's role and value throughout the County. <br />Strategy 3: Align internal practices and policies to activate the mission statement <br />throughout the organization. <br />PRIMARY RATIONALES FOR GOAL AND STRATEGIES: <br />A strong mission statement is critical to providing a foundation for the <br />organization as it plans for the future <br />This is a transformational time for libraries and most are finding the need to <br />clarify their purpose and brand message in the community <br />When employees understand, embrace, and believe in a mission statement they <br />are more engaged and committed to their jobs <br />GOAL 2: Increase and Enhance Lifelong Learning, Outreach, Youth Services and <br />Digital Resources to Meet Targeted Community Needs <br />Strategy 1: Increase programming and lifelong opportunities for all ages, with a focus on <br />adult and teen programs. <br />Strategy 2: Expand outreach services to senior, under -resourced, and diverse <br />populations. <br />Strategy 3: Enhance technology drop-in and training services, particularly for older <br />adults. <br />Strategy 4: Further develop youth services, particularly teen services and resources, and <br />early literacy outreach to parents and young children. <br />Strategy 5: Examine the collections development program and redirect those resources <br />to meet the changing needs of the library users. <br />11 <br />
