Background <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of March 2, 2016 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br />Approve Minutes from February 10, 2016 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of February 10, 2016. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br />Summer Recreation Program Plan <br />Staff will provide an update on the program scheduled for spring and summer 2016. These include the <br />programs we partner with Washington County Library and White Bear Lake Area Schools. These include <br />Action Hero Day, Kidz 'N Biz, Story Stroll, Animals Make Music, Park Play Days, Tech Tac Toe, Safety Camp, <br />and the Tour de Hugo. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED PROGRAM FLYERS. <br />Lions Park Workshop <br />One of the 2016 goals of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission is to hold a workshop with the <br />City Council to discuss the future of Lions Park. Staff will provide a brief review of the planning process for <br />Lions Park. Staff is looking for direction on what the Commission would like to discuss with the Council. <br />THE LIONS PARK CONCEPT PLAN IS ATTACHED. <br />Missing Link Exercise <br />The Parks Commission prioritized trails at their 2016 goal setting. This includes reviewing and updating the <br />Parks, Trails, and Open Space Plan and identifying missing trail links. At the meeting of February 10, 2016, <br />the Parks Commission reviewed the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Plan. The review included the purpose of <br />each type of trail, collaboration with property owners and developers, and the importance of regional <br />coordination. The vision guiding the general layout of trails city-wide was discussed. <br />Staff will provide the history of specific existing trails to provide examples of how trails may be constructed in <br />Hugo. Maps have been updated to reflect recent trail construction. The Parks Commission will discuss what <br />is outlined for future trails in 7.5 FUTURE TRAIL AND SIDEWALK PLAN. Individual planned trails will be looked at <br />and discussed to develop and understanding of how and when they may be constructed in the future. <br />MAPS WILL BE PROVIDED AT THE MEETING. <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Parks Commission Agenda <br />March 2, 2016 <br />
