Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for September 6, 2016 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> Approval of Minutes for the August 25,2016 NE Metro Water Summit <br /> Petryk made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the minutes for the Northeast Metro Water <br /> Summit meeting on August 25, 2016 as presented. <br /> Approval of the Agenda <br /> Weidt made motion, Klein seconded,to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> All Ayes. Motion carried <br /> Hugo Lions Golf Fundraiser Donation to the Yellow Ribbon Network <br /> On August 14, 2016, the Hugo Lions Club held a golf fundraiser at Oneka Ridge, with all <br /> proceeds to be donated to the Hugo Yellow Ribbon Network. Hugo Lions Club Members Denny <br /> Route and Mike Gallivan shared information with Council on the event. This was their 4th <br /> annual fundraiser. There were approximately 25 golfers the first year and 136 golfers this year. <br /> They presented the Yellow Ribbon Network a check for$8,800.33, and thanked all the event <br /> sponsors. <br /> Council Member Chuck Haas and Phil Klein provided an update on the Yellow Ribbon Network <br /> recent activities. Mike Devine from DeVine's Plumbing was the sponsor for last month's <br /> Hamburger Night. The Minnesota Military Family Foundation and Disabled American Veterans <br /> have asked the YRN to host the Shoot for the Troops event at Wild Wings Game Farm on <br /> September 17. On October 1, the YRN will be hosting a family day picnic for the 834th Brigade <br /> Battalion at the Vets Camp. Meat raffles will be starting at Sal's Angus Grill with the Bayport <br /> Legion and the Blue Star Moms on Saturdays. The YRN has received three special requests for <br /> care packages. <br /> DUI Reduction Program Pilot Proiect—MN National Guard <br /> Council Member Haas explained that the Yellow Ribbon Network had been having discussions <br /> with the MN National Guard regarding the number of DWI and DUI incidences.among veterans. <br /> He introduced Captain Troy Davidson, from the MNNG Substance Abuse Program, who <br /> explained the desire to establish a program to work with local liquor license holders, law <br /> enforcement, and other community partners who had been invited to this meeting, in establishing <br /> a pilot project to reduce those numbers. <br /> Mayor Tom Weidt called for a short recess to allow the group to leave the Council Chambers <br /> and gather in the conference room to brainstorm options and ways to address the issue. <br /> CenturyLink Expansion of Broadband Services—Director of Local Government Affairs <br /> Kirstin Sersland <br /> CenturyLink Director of Local Government Affairs Kirstin Sersland informed Council they were <br /> successful in securing Connect American Funds (CAF) to extend services to the rural northeast <br />
