Based on a recommendation from the Public Works history.
Building Committee, the study will look at the Public Works Departments current needs as well as pro-
. jections for future expansion.
Public Works Director Chris Petree explains that the Space Needs Study will consider such things as
administrative office space, employee areas, and equipment and materials storage. He adds, "It will also
take into account our Capital Improvements Program which includes suggested equipment purchases
over the next 5, 10,and 20 years." Ultimately, the study will make a recommendation as to the size and
type of building needed and what amenities it should include.
Seven architectural and consulting engineering firms have submitted proposals for the study, and the
Public Works Building Committee is currently reviewing them. The Council required that the cost of the
study is not to exceed$2,000. A recommendation to the Council is expected in August.
