BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON APRIL 17, 2017 <br />D.1 Minutes for the April 3, 2017 City Council Meeting <br />D.2 Minutes for the April 8, 2017 Good Neighbors Food Shelf Pasta Dinner <br />Staff recommends Council approve the minutes as presented. <br />F.1 Introduction of new Washington County Sergeant and Investigator <br />At its April 3, 2017 meeting, the Council recognized Sergeant Wayne Johnson's retirement after <br />six years as the sergeant in Hugo. Taking his place is Sergeant Joseph Stoehr who has been with <br />the Washington County Sheriff's Office for the past 12 years, working his first six years as a <br />deputy in Hugo. Also, included in the 2017 budget, Council approved the position of a <br />Washington County investigator in Hugo. Selected to fill this position is Deputy Joe Zerwas. Joe <br />and Joe will be in attendance to introduce themselves to the Council. <br />F.2 Recognition of Retirement of Sheriff Hutton <br />Sheriff William Hutton was sworn in as the new Sheriff of the Washington County Sheriff's <br />Office in January of 2007. Since then, the City of Hugo has had a close working relationship with <br />his department. Sheriff Hutton is retiring effective April 30, 2017. Council will recognize his <br />over ten years of service to the City of Hugo. <br />G.1 Approval of Claims <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. <br />G.2 Approve Temporary Liquor License for the Hugo Lions Club for Good Neighbor Days <br />Event June 8-11, 2017 <br />The Hugo Lions Club has applied for a Temporary On -Sale Liquor License to serve beer and <br />Bloody Marys at the Hugo Good Neighbors Day event on June 8-11, 2017. Staff has received the <br />application fee and a Certificate of Liability Insurance for Liquor naming the City as additionally <br />insured. Staff recommends Council approve the Temporary On -Sale Liquor License for the Lions <br />Club for the Hugo Good Neighbors Days event. <br />G.3 Approve Resignation of Hugo Firefighter Matt Richardson <br />Hugo Firefighter Matt Richardson has submitted his resignation from the Hugo Fire Department. <br />Staff recommends Council approve the resignation of Matt effective April 30, 2017. <br />GA Approve Renewal of 2 a.m. Liquor License Sal's Angus Grill <br />Sal's Angus Grill, 12010 Keystone Avenue North, has submitted their renewal of a 2 a.m. Liquor <br />License, which allows them to serve alcohol until 2 a.m. by State Statue. Hugo City Code has <br />adopted state law regarding the hours of sale but still must approve the 2 a.m. closing time. Staff <br />recommends Council approve the 2 a.m. Liquor License for Sal's Angus Grill. <br />
