BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON APRIL 17, 2017 D.1 Minutes for the April 3, 2017 City Council Meeting D.2 Minutes for the April 8, 2017 Good Neighbors Food Shelf Pasta Dinner Staff recommends Council approve the minutes as presented. F.1 Introduction of new Washington County Sergeant and Investigator At its April 3, 2017 meeting, the Council recognized Sergeant Wayne Johnson's retirement after six years as the sergeant in Hugo. Taking his place is Sergeant Joseph Stoehr who has been with the Washington County Sheriff's Office for the past 12 years, working his first six years as a deputy in Hugo. Also, included in the 2017 budget, Council approved the position of a Washington County investigator in Hugo. Selected to fill this position is Deputy Joe Zerwas. Joe and Joe will be in attendance to introduce themselves to the Council. F.2 Recognition of Retirement of Sheriff Hutton Sheriff William Hutton was sworn in as the new Sheriff of the Washington County Sheriff's Office in January of 2007. Since then, the City of Hugo has had a close working relationship with his department. Sheriff Hutton is retiring effective April 30, 2017. Council will recognize his over ten years of service to the City of Hugo. G.1 Approval of Claims Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. G.2 Approve Temporary Liquor License for the Hugo Lions Club for Good Neighbor Days Event June 8-11, 2017 The Hugo Lions Club has applied for a Temporary On -Sale Liquor License to serve beer and Bloody Marys at the Hugo Good Neighbors Day event on June 8-11, 2017. Staff has received the application fee and a Certificate of Liability Insurance for Liquor naming the City as additionally insured. Staff recommends Council approve the Temporary On -Sale Liquor License for the Lions Club for the Hugo Good Neighbors Days event. G.3 Approve Resignation of Hugo Firefighter Matt Richardson Hugo Firefighter Matt Richardson has submitted his resignation from the Hugo Fire Department. Staff recommends Council approve the resignation of Matt effective April 30, 2017. GA Approve Renewal of 2 a.m. Liquor License Sal's Angus Grill Sal's Angus Grill, 12010 Keystone Avenue North, has submitted their renewal of a 2 a.m. Liquor License, which allows them to serve alcohol until 2 a.m. by State Statue. Hugo City Code has adopted state law regarding the hours of sale but still must approve the 2 a.m. closing time. Staff recommends Council approve the 2 a.m. Liquor License for Sal's Angus Grill.
