Mr. Dan Sittler
Comment 1:
My conceal is the traffic on 135t" St, whilcit will now link up to this new deve9opment. 135' St. will be a
long straight road that will lead to more and faster traffic flow. Currently 1.35Lh is a dead ended, and the
locals do speed up faster than, they should. One suggestion would be to put a stop sign at Freeland St.
that tees into 135"' and adding some speed limit reminders (signs), this may help..
Response:
During the initial stages of the review process, the City of Hugo made a point of including "cut -
through" traffic as a specific topic of analysis. During the traffic study, the project proposer
worked with the City's traffic consultant to determine the magnitude of trips cutting through
the Adelaide Landing development to get to or from 130th Street, TH 61 or points to the north
and east. The results showed relatively few trips cutting through the development, thus not
appreciably adding traffic impacts to or from the main intersections into or out of the
development.
Regarding 135th Street linking up to the development and becoming a long straight road, the
street will actually curve to the northwest once entering the Adelaide Landing development, and
a stop condition will occur at 137th Street. This curvilinear design and intersection promotes
traffic calming. The stop sign at 137th street and the curvilinear design of the road should
K:\03288-040\Admin\Dots\EAW\EAW Responses to Comments 041217.docx
