If addressing cumulative effect under individual items, make sure to include information <br />requested in EAW Item No. 19 <br />9. Land Use <br />a. Describe: <br />i. Existing land use of the site as well as areas adjacent to and near the site, including parks, <br />trails, prime or unique farmlands. <br />Existing land use within, and adjacent to, the project site is depicted on Exhibit 4. <br />The subject properties were historically used for agriculture, which remains the current use to <br />date. A residential non -homestead property is located in the southwest portion of the site. A <br />farmstead property is located in the southeast portion of the site, and dates back to 1890. <br />Abutting land use consists of wetland, woodland, and rural residential uses north of the <br />northeast section of the Project; residential development surrounding all sides of the north <br />section of the Project; urban commercial and industrial development located on the west side of <br />TH 61; residential development and wetland/rural/vacant land located south of the subject site; <br />and farmstead and vacant land located east of the Project. <br />There are currently no designated parks or recreation areas within the project boundary as <br />shown on the City's Parks and Trails map. A city trail is proposed south of the project <br />boundary along 130' Street North. A general search area for proposed community park is <br />located north of the Project area adjacent to the boundary. Diamond Point Park, located <br />approximately 0.9 miles northeast of the project area, contains a ball field and a park. Beaver <br />Ponds Park, a neighborhood park, is located approximately 850 feet to the south. Oneka Ridge <br />Golf Course is located 0.5 Miles south of the Project boundary. The Project area and its <br />immediate vicinity to the east is designated in the City of Hugo Comprehensive Plan (March <br />15, 2010) as NP-6, an area in strong immediate need for park. <br />Prime and Unique Farmlands <br />According to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (MRCS), none of the 6 soil types <br />found on the site are prime farmlands (Table 10.1). Three of the six soil types found on the site <br />are classified as farmland of statewide importance and comprise 124.6 acres, or approximately <br />57 percent of the site area. <br />Prime farmlands consist of land that has the best combination of physical and chemical <br />characteristics for producing food, feed, forage, and oilseed crops. According to the NRCS, <br />prime farmlands have "an adequate and dependable water supply from precipitation, a favorable <br />
