Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for August 7, 2017 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />Discussion on the Reclassification of Hardwood Creek/JD2 to Public Waters <br />Staff added this to the agenda at the request of Rice Creek Watershed District Manager John <br />Waller. Waller, 14010 Homestead Avenue, had attended the District's monthly workshop and he <br />talked about a letter they are drafting to send to the DRN regarding the DNR's reclassification of <br />Hardwood Creek/Judicial Ditch 2 as a public water body. Maintenance to the ditch would then <br />have to go through the state's permitting process. He asked for Council's support in not putting <br />these properties back into the public water inventories. The Council talked about the importance <br />of keeping local control of the ditch. <br />Weidt made motion, Miron seconded, to direct staff to draft a letter to the DNR regarding the <br />reclassification of the ditch for approval at the next Council meeting. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. 1 <br />Yellow Ribbon Network Report x <br />Council Member Phil Klein reported to Council on the Yellow Ribbon Network activities held <br />recently. He thanked the businesses who sponsored July Burger Night. On August 16, the <br />American Legion will be hosting a movie called Battle Scars, and this will be a fundraiser for the <br />YRN. Caribou Coffee donated coffee for care packages, and the YRN had shipped almost 16 <br />tons of wish list items to date. He reminded everyone that the Hugo Public Works Department <br />will be sponsoring the next Burger Night on August 23, and the 4th annual Hugo Lions Golf <br />Scramble will be on August 13 in support of the YRN. <br />Reschedule September 4, 2017 Council Meeting to Tuesday, September 5, 2017 Due to <br />Labor Day Holiday <br />Each year, the Hugo City Council has to reschedule its first meeting in September due to the <br />Labor Day Federal Holiday. City Administrator Bryan Bear requested Council reschedule this <br />meeting. <br />Weidt made motion, Petryk seconded, to reschedule the meeting to Tuesday, September 5, 2017. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Comprehensive Plan Workshop on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear reminded Council that a workshop had been scheduled for <br />Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in the Oneka Room at 7 p.m. with the Parks Commission to discuss the <br />2040 Comprehensive Plan as it relates to parks. <br />Schedule Citywide Bus Tour for Saturday, October 7 or 14, 2017 <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear requested Council pick a date to schedule the 12th annual <br />Citywide Bus Tour for the Council, Commissions, City staff, and interested residents. <br />
