6. What strategies were used to reach the project's goal?
Committees are formed and employees recruited to chair and support the sub-committees. E-
mails and materials are sent to employees to recruit volunteers or ask for donations to the
causes. Paper flyers and information is posted on the video screens in our lobbies to inform
and encourage members to contribute to things such as Casual for a Cause.
7. How were the project's promotional materials targeted to the intended audience(s) and
how did they communicate the project's goals?
E-mails and materials are sent to employees to recruit volunteers or ask for donations to the
causes. Paper flyers are posted in the lobby for Casual for a Cause and video commercials are
displayed on the lobby video screens to inform the members that they may also contribute.
When an activity is accomplished employees are notified through e-mails. Members,
employees and the general public are given information about projects through PCU's
newsletter Dollars and Sense, the website and newspaper articles.
8. How is this project unique? How does it demonstrate extraordinary effort and devotion
of time and organization by the credit union?
This project is unique in the sense that it does not focus on only one cause or one facet of the
community. We are spreading the contributions to all ages and areas of the community, these
many causes touch our lives in one means or another. The people involved in the committee
see first hand how we touch their lives, through delivering meals to dropping off backpacks.
Employees see the gratefulness in the recipients' eyes; the personal contact touches many
people and keeps employees motivated to continue the quest of the committee. The Credit
Union is more than gracious in allowing employees to take time off for these functions so that
we may give back to the community.
9. Please describe the measurable or defined results the project achieved.
The results the project achieved are many; monetarily nearly $20,000 has been contributed to
various organizations by PCU, members, employees and board members during the past year.
In other ways the results are immeasurable. You cannot put a price on delivering a hot meal to
a person or giving a backpack to a school child whose parents cannot afford to buy them school
supplies. The smile of a child at Christmas who finds gifts under the tree when their parents
struggle to put food on the table is priceless.
10. How does the project demonstrate credit union values of mutual self-help, cooperation,
economic empowerment and volunteerism?
