3. What were the goals of your project and how did they show social concern for the
community? (Include measurable goals such as dollars budgeted, number of people
impacted, etc.)
The goal is to reach out and cater to the needs of the community and the nation. PCU is always
very generous in aiding others. The Community Involvement Committee fulfils this goal by
helping local charities with Meals on Wheels and school supply donations as well as state and
national level charities by helping assemble supplemental nutrition packs and donating to
Casual for Cause. Casual for Cause reaches from the local level of Meals on Wheels to the
national level of the Susan G. Colman 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk. The Credit Union aids the
nation by making a variety of other donations. In 2005, PCU donated over $4400 to Tsunami
Relief and over $8800 to Katrina Relief.
The Community Involvement Committee directly impacts countless people in local communities
through Meals on Wheels, Donations to Local Women's Shelters, Adopt a Family and donations
to local charities. Nationally the Community Involvement Committee impacts thousands through
donations. Donations, year to date, total over $10,000 through employees and members alone,
the Credit Union matches most of these donations, bringing the total year to date contribution to
nearly $20,000.
4. How did the project support the needs of the community?
The needs of the community are many, with assistance needed in purchasing school supplies
for students, delivering meals, and providing assistance with buying gifts to help those in need.
The Community Involvement Committee primarily supports these community needs through the
functions of Meals on Wheels, donations to the women's shelters, Adopt a Family, and Casual
for a Cause.
5. Define the project's target audience(s), including who got involved and who benefited
from the project.
Individuals and families who are under privileged or in need benefit from the Community
Involvement Committee. Employees directly contribute to the communities needs through
monetary donations, donations of school supplies, toys and clothing, or donations of personal
time to deliver meals assemble supplemental nutrition packs, deliver school supplies and
Christmas Gifts. All people involved in these activities benefit, from the people receiving the
donations to the people contributing. The people receiving the donations were extremely
grateful in their reception. The people delivering and contributing were touched by the
gratefulness of others and gained appreciation for the simple necessities of life which are often
taken for granted.
