In addition to the
items outlined above, staff shares these items during meetings with business owners.
• One stop shop for stormwater management and wetland requirements (LGU)
• Downtown Hugo TIF District
• Willingness to discuss economic incentives
• Grant opportunities
• BR&E Program
• Location from airports and interstates
• Rail spur access
• Low Taxes
• Fiscal shape of the City
• Rebuilding downtown
• City owned property in downtown
• Infrastructure improvements
• Fastest growing city
• Demographics
• Good public schools
• City amenities—Parks Programs
• Quality developments
1306 Building Code Option
The 1306 building code option requires can require all buildings in the City to be sprinkled for
fire suppression. The City per a recommendation from the EDA opted out of adopting the 1306
building code option. The State building code still requires buildings of a certain size and
occupancy to be fully sprinkled. This allows the businesses to have the option to sprinkler their
building or not based on size and type of business.
Continued Efforts
The City continues to review and revise ordinances with the ORC as a continued effort to keep
the City Code up to date. Below are the ordinances that are on the list to be reviewed and
revised. Some of these regulations effect businesses and businesses will be taken into
consideration as they are created and revised. Others will be added over time.
• Parking
• Landscaping
Page 13
