One of the tools of this marketing plan may be the utilization of
business retention visits. Staff has internally discussed the idea of setting up initial
business visits of Wilson Tool and JL Schweiters. These visits would allow the EDA to
become more familiar with two of the larger businesses in Hugo. Additionally, the tour
of Schweiters would allow the EDA to view the location of the new BEIP railroad spur
that will be constructed this spring on a vacant lot owned by Schweiters. Staff is seeking
direction regarding the development of marketing plan, as well as the level of desire to
visit Wilson Tool and JL Schweiters.
Miron made motion, Granger seconded directing staff to schedule a business retention
site visit and to use an off-site conference facility to facilitate the next EDA meeting, and
for staff to prepare a light agenda.
All Aye.
