L.
Michele Lindau
From: JR Compton
Sent: Monday, August 28, 2017 10:02 PM
To: Bryan Bear, Chuck Haas; Becky Petryk; Mike Miron; Phil Klein; Tom Weidt
Cc: Michele Lindau; Kevin Colvard; Andy Churchill; Colin Emans; Robert Bieniek; James
Fordham; JR Compton
Subject: invite to HFD house burn
Good evening all,
I would like to formally invite the city council and Bryan to take part in our house burn on Saturday, September 16th in
the morning. We would like to put on a fire behavior evolution for you to take part in. The last time we had this type of
thing happen was when Chuck went in when I was a rookie 16 or so years ago, so we don't get this opportunity very
often.
You would be fitted into fire gear that we have and wear an SCBA while in the hazardous environment.
This would consist of you going into a structure prior to the fire being set. The instructor would set a fire and you would
watch it grow from infancy to a full room fire, which is when the firefighters would knock the fire down. This is a
controlled environment, and you will be in good hands.
If you are available and interested in taking part in this please let me know ASAP. We need to meet at the fire station
sometime next week to get fitted and need to set up a fit test at Health Strategies in WBL for the SCBA mask.
If you don't want to go into the structure and wear the gear, your still welcome to attend the training and see from our
point of view on the fire ground. We will have someone available to you to answer questions and explain what is going
on. Unfortunately I won't be there as I will be in the Boundary Waters canoeing for the week.
More details to come as the date gets closer.
Again let me know ASAP and thank you for considering this.
MAKE 1T A GREAT DAY!
Jim Compton, Jr.
Deputy Chief
Hugo Fire Department
651-248-4475
ircompton@ci.hugo.mn.us
