BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE HUGO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2017 <br />D.1 Minutes for the September 5, 2017 City Council Meeting <br />Staff recommends Council approve the minutes as presented. <br />F.1 White Bear Lake School District Lew Renewal — Superintendent Dr. Wayne <br />Kazmierczak <br />At their August meeting, the White Bear Lake Area School Board approved a 10 -year Local <br />Operating Levy Renewal question to be placed on the November 7, 2017 ballot. This vote will be <br />a renewal of the same question that was supported in the fall of 2011. Superintendent Dr. Wayne <br />Kazmierczak will be present to answer questions on the levy renewal. <br />G.1 Approval of Claims <br />City staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. <br />G.2 Approve Annual Performance Review for City Clerk Michele Lindau <br />Michele Lindau was hired as the new City Clerk in the City of Hugo on January 1, 2008. <br />Michele was originally hired by the City of Hugo as a part time employee in 1997 and a full time <br />employee beginning May 1, 1999. City Administrator Bryan Bear recommends Council approve <br />the annual performance review for City Clerk Michele Lindau. <br />G.3 Approve Annual Performance Review for Public Works Worker Paul Christianson <br />The City of Hugo hired Paul Christianson as a Public Works Worker on September 27, 2004. <br />Public Works Director Scott Anderson recommends Council approve the annual performance <br />review for Public Works Worker Paul Christianson. <br />GA Variance for Side Yard Setback — Lakeview Family Dental, 14475 Forest Blvd. N. <br />Carrell Properties, LLC has submitted an application for approval of a variance to construct a <br />new monument sign for Lakeview Family Dentist at 14475 Forest Boulevard North (TH61). The <br />landscaping of the existing sign extends onto the neighboring property to the south, and the <br />MnDOT right-of-way to the west. Ordinance requires a ten -foot setback from all property lines. <br />The variance requested is to locate the sign five feet from the side property line, which will <br />reduce the non -conformity. Staff feels the request meets the intent of the ordinance and <br />recommends Council approval. The Planning Commission will consider this request at their <br />meeting on September 21, 2017. Staff will provide a memo to the Council at the meeting to <br />update the Council on the Planning Commission's action on this variance request. <br />I.1 Abatement Hearing for Schultz -13101 Henna Ave <br />Staff has been working with the property owner regarding violations of the Municipal Code since <br />
