Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for November 6, 2017 <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />Donation to the Yellow Ribbon Network from the Fry Group <br />On Saturday, October 14, 2017, a barbeque rib cook -off was held at Hugo Lions Park. This event <br />was held by the Fry Group as a fundraiser for the Yellow Ribbon Network. <br />Dave and Monica Fry were present and Dave explained the competition between himself and <br />Dave Huynh, a.k.a. BBQ Dave, came about through office banter about who made the better <br />ribs, and they chose the Yellow Ribbon Network to donate to. A check was presented to the <br />YRN in the amount of $957 from donations gathered during the event. <br />Approval of the Consent Agenda <br />Haas made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda items. <br />1. Approval of Claims <br />2. Approve Resolution Designating Precinct Polling Locations for the 2018 Election <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Claims <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the <br />ter as i tsented. <br />During the 2017 legislative session, changes were made to Minnesota Statutes 204B.16, which <br />discusses polling designations. The new law states that municipalities must designate precinct <br />polling places for all elections for the year by December 31 of the prior year. Adoption of the <br />Consent Agenda approved RESOLUTION 2017-39 A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING <br />PRECINCT POLLING LOCATIONS FOR THE 2018 ELECTIONS IN THE CITY OF HUGO, <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA. <br />Approve' Resolution Approving CUP for Gunsmithing at 5611 152nd Street North, Unit 3 <br />Haas removed this item from the Consent Agenda to hear more about the business. Kevin <br />Muramatsu was requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for 5611 152nd Street <br />North, Unit #3,that would allow him to utilize 25% of the 2,000 square foot unit for retail space <br />as a supplementary use to the gunsmithing facility. At its October 12, 2017, meeting, the <br />Planning Commission held a public hearing and considered the request. No one in the audience <br />spoke at the public hearing. The Planning Commission agreed that the application met the <br />requirements necessary to approve the CUP and recommended Council adopt the resolution <br />approving the CUP for 5611 152"d Street North. <br />Owner Kevin Muramatsu explained he had been operating out of his home and needed more <br />room. An ideal space opened next to his primary client, JP Enterprises, and part of the building <br />will be used as a small commercial retail space. He explained that he basically builds and fixes <br />firearms. <br />
