Minutes <br />Recreation,p <br />Meeting of December 20, 2017 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br />Present: Dave Strub, Cathy Moore-Arcand, Nicole Schmid, Ranell Tennyson, Roger Clarke <br />Staff Absent: John Pontrelli, Mat Rauschendorfer <br />Staff Present: Shayla Denaway, Parks Planner <br />Debi Close, Park Secretary <br />Strub called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br />1. Approval of Minutes from November Meeting <br />Tennyson made a motion, Moore-Arcand seconded to approve the minutes of the November <br />15, 2017 Parks Commission meeting as presented. <br />All Ayes. <br />Motion carried. <br />2. Comprehensive Plan Draft Review <br />Kendra Lindahl, of Landform Inc., presented a draft of the Parks Chapter of the 2040 <br />Comprehensive plan. This included: <br />• Updated Guiding Principles — connected/ multi -functional Parks System, high quality <br />parks, access, innovation/ collaboration, and natural resources. <br />• Re-evaluating the recreation demand — close to housing, natural areas, trails, outdoor <br />activities and water recreation to be included. <br />• Updated Greenway Corridor <br />• Redefining neighborhood park service areas and community park search areas <br />• Reviewing and Updating all maps, especially the trail map <br />The Parks Commission were supportive of the new look of the plan and the map updates. The <br />Commission had discussion about the Irish Avenue Park, snowmobile trails, the neighborhood <br />park service area chart, and other topics. They were generally very supportive of the draft plan. <br />
