3. 2017 AnriUal Report <br />Parks Planner Shayla Denaway presented the 2017 Annual Report of the Parks, Recreation, and <br />Open Space Commission. Topics included: <br />• Trails- connectivity prioritized, updated plans and mapping, new developments and road <br />projects incorporated trails, extension of trail on Oneka Lake Blvd. to Hwy 61 completed <br />• Irish Avenue Park- passive uses continue, pollinator habitat constructed <br />• Lions Park <br />• Plans and Policies- Comprehensive Plan was updated <br />• Recreation Programs- several very successful programs held in 2017 <br />• Park upgrades were started <br />4. Goal Setting <br />Denaway reviewed the 2017 Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission goals to start off <br />the discussion which included <br />• Trails- the greenway corridor and connectivity to strengthen with new development, <br />improvements to be made at Clearwater Creek Preserve <br />• Recreation- provide for the recreation needs of our diverse population, strengthen and <br />build partnerships, continue recreation programming and events, evaluate existing and <br />explore new options for recreation and including recreation with a focus on water access <br />• Irish Avenue Park- update/develop a vision for future uses of the park, promote long term <br />vision and short term uses of the park to residents, plan and encourage short term uses of <br />the park, and evaluate the parking and tree growth <br />• Lions Park- review the feasibility study, engage with the City Council and community to look <br />at next steps <br />• Plan and Policies: Finish updating the Parks, Trails and Open Space Plan ( 2040 <br />Comprehensive Plan Updates), respond to resident input, review development applications <br />with respect to the parks, Trails and Open Space Plan <br />S.
