CITY OF HUGO <br />FINANCE COORDINATOR <br />POSITION CREATED: March 19, 2018 <br />Essential Areas of Responsibility: (Continued) <br />Finance: <br />* Provides assistance to Finance Director in the areas of financial planning, budgeting, <br />auditing, and reporting. <br />* Serves as Acting Finance Director during his/her absence. <br />Other Duties: <br />* Keeps informed on pending state and/or federal legislation that would impact the City. <br />* Performs all other duties and assumes other responsiblities as assigned or requested. <br />Minimum Qualifications <br />A combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree with decision making responsibility <br />in one or more functional areas including experience with budget administration/preparation, city assessments, <br />and investment management. <br />Preferred Qualifications <br />Three plus years of professional experience in municipal accounting. <br />Extensive knowledge of governmental and general accounting procedures. <br />Experience with Fund Balance software. <br />Knowledge, Skills & Abilities <br />* Knowledge and experience with spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. <br />* Ability to perform accurate and detailed calculations. <br />* Ability to perform general accounting work requiring a high degree of concentration, <br />organization, and judgement in interpreting practices and procedures. <br />* Ability to work under own initiative with minimal supervision. Ability to research issues <br />and problem solve. <br />* Ability to maintain confidentiality. <br />* Ability to communicate ideas, explanations and recommendations clearly both orally <br />and in writing. <br />* Ability to exercise independent judgement to apply facts and principals for developing <br />approaches and techniques to problem resolution. <br />* Skill to communicate with a variety of individuals and handle a variety of customer <br />service situations. <br />Working Conditions <br />Work is performed in a typical office environment that consists of an open work area and front <br />counter for providing customer service. Travel consisting of short trips. <br />Schedule <br />The work week will consist of 40 hours of work, with the potential for scheduled and unscheduled <br />overtime hours as determined by the Finance Director or as required by the job. Position shall be <br />non-exempt and eligible for overtime in the form of compensatory time off. <br />Page 2 <br />
